Academic Affairs
- This committee works on issues surrounding academic ethics, advising, textbooks, and other academic concerns of undergraduate students. This committee also has programs and projects dealing with the new USG Course Guide, encouraging academic excellence, and distributing relevant information on USC academic life such as research opportunities, mentoring, and other means of integrative learning.
Campus Affairs
- This committee handles such areas as the ticket office, DPS, transportation, and the health center. We are also the committee that is overseeing the new Campus Center and the new Health Center. Our role is to serve as student advocates in each of these vital fields.
Community Affairs
- This committee is vital in getting the Undergraduate Student Government, along with the undergraduate student body as a whole, involved in community services. We organize activities and service events to benefit the local, area, and global community.
Diversity Affairs
- This committee is responsible for representing all minority interests on campus and serving as diversity advocates. We work to raise awareness of minority concerns, and our committee members often conduct research for advocacy proposals and organize minority awareness events.
Elections and Recruitment
- Elections and Recruitment has two main objectives: To recruit new USG members, and to plan and organize the USG elections in February. Members of this committee will help to organize election events during the first two months of the spring semester, and will manage recruitment efforts throughout the year.
Research and Development
- The Research and Development Committee is the Senate's committee to help research for their particular projects. Just as every Executive Board Director has their own committee to help them fulfill their responsibilities, the Senate utilizes the Research and Development Committee to assist them with their campaign platform projects. The Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate is responsible for organizing the R&D.
This year the R&D has a new element. It will be comprised of all the Senator Aides, which is a new position designed to increase the visibility and accessibility of the Senate, develop ambitious underclassmen within USG, and give the R&D more responsibility.
Residential Affairs
-
Residential Affairs seeks to address student’s concerns with residential facilities, maintenance, and general quality of life of students residing in both university and non-university housing in the local area. Members of this committee will be directly involved in advocating housing issues and working with various organizations including Trojan Hospitality, Housing Advisory, URSC, Residential Education, as well as non-university housing providers.
University Affairs
- This committee’s objective is to make the lives of undergraduates easier by addressing issues that affect nearly every undergrad. Specific duties include issues of housing, Trojan Hospitality (ex. meal plans), and Lyon Center improvement.
