Los Angeles, CA – At the November 19th meeting of the USG Senate, members convened to address key initiatives and ongoing projects aimed at enhancing student experiences and campus resources.

Chair Izzy Del Gaudio: Expanding Accessibility Initiatives
Chair Del Gaudio highlighted the importance of making Disability Awareness Month a permanent annual tradition. Her team created an effective email template that students can use to voice their concerns to professors to receive accommodations. They plan to work with OSAS and Facility Planning Plangement to make priority seating and professional care more accessible throughout various campus facilities. 

VP Brianna Sanchez: Legislative and Campus Projects
Vice President Sanchez provided updates on key initiatives, including solar panel benches and budget reallocations. She acknowledged Legislative members for projects such as the Digital Detox Challenge, the Menstrual Products initiative, a Textbook Donation Drive, and Extended Food Hours during Finals. Plans to reallocate excess funds will be finalized by December 3rd.

CCO Faiz Ahmed: Elevating Communication and Outreach
CCO Ahmed detailed progress in advertising the Intent to Run page and Election Timeline in partnership with the Judicial Council. Future plans include finalizing group headshots for the Yearbook, publishing newsletters to celebrate achievements, and promoting campus resources for finals. He encouraged members to reach out for collaboration or any other publicity needs.

CPO Hunter Black: Programming and Transitions
CPO Black reviewed recent events, including DPS Roundtables and voter mobilization efforts. He emphasized assisting Programming Groups with budget transitions and preparing for UTSA’s potential induction as a full Assembly, pending a two-thirds Senate majority vote.

GM Patrick Done: Campus Checkpoint Survey Results
GM Done presented survey findings revealing widespread dissatisfaction with campus checkpoints, citing concerns over profiling, exclusion, and negative impacts on school spirit. Three proposed solutions—removal, reform, and clearer communication—were discussed. The team will leverage these findings to advocate for change in upcoming meetings with DPS and school administration.

Senator Ali Bhatti: Trojan Learn Module and Campus Enhancements
Senator Bhatti introduced projects including new pickleball courts, expanded food vendor options, and a 40-minute Trojan Learn Module focusing on the Kizh Gabrielino Land. Efforts are underway to engage administrators for implementation.

The USC Undergraduate Student Government Senate meets every Tuesday at 7:00 PM in TCC 450 (Tutor Forum) and via Zoom. Each meeting includes an open forum for community members to share ideas and concerns.
