The New York Times commissioned young women photographers in nearly two dozen countries to find out. The result is #Thisis18, a new photography book that celebrates girlhood across six continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EXHIBITION: The exhibition will be on view at the Fisher Museum of Art through February 15th. Museum hours are Tuesday-Friday: 12PM &#8211; 5pm and Saturday: 12PM &#8211; 4 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select photographs from the project will be on display in the Quinn Wing at the Fisher Museum of Art. Curated by The New York Times and sponsored by USC Speakers Committee and Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PANEL + RECEPTION: Tuesday, February 11th, 5-7 PM<br>Join us to celebrate this exciting project with a panel and reception on February 11th, featuring Jessica Bennett, Anya Strzemien, Sharon Attia, and H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Fran\u00e7oise Philippe in conversation with Alison Trope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PANELIST BIOS:<\/strong><br><em>Jessica Bennett<\/em> is an award-winning journalist who writes on women and culture. She is the author of Feminist Fight Club: A Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Anya Strzemien<\/em> is a deputy editor of the The New York Times Styles section. Her first job in media was a \u2018zine she created in her bedroom at age 15 called Love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Sharon Attia<\/em> is a researcher and social media editor for the Times. When she was 18 \u2014 not that long ago! \u2014 she had to physically flip her camera around to take a selfie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Fran\u00e7oise Philippe<\/em> is a resident virtual reality artist at TecnoLatinx, a VR lab in Los Angeles. She was a subject for the #ThisIs18 project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MODERATOR BIO:<\/strong><br>Alison Trope is Clinical Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at USC&#8217;s Annenberg School for Communication. She founded and serves as Director of the Critical Media Project (CMP), a web-based media literacy resource at the intersection of media literacy and identity (gender, race, class, sexuality, religion, age and disability). CMP is used in the Los Angeles Unified School District and other secondary and higher education institutions across the United States. Extending her work in media literacy, Trope sits on the Board of the National Association of Media Literacy Educators. At Annenberg, Trope serves as the Faculty Director for IDEA (Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg). She is the author of Stardust Monuments: The Saving and Selling of Hollywood (Dartmouth, 2012), which explores the enduring efforts to memorialize and canonize the history and meaning Hollywood takes on in our everyday lives.
