Advocacy
What is the Advocacy Department?
The Advocacy Department of USG works to advance community-centered advocacy by bridging the gap between university administrators and students on issues affecting various campus communities. The department strives to ensure all students are informed about important institutional changes while also increasing awareness of campus resources and opportunities for support. With strong partnerships, they ensure the voices and lived experiences of the undergraduate student body are actively represented to university administrators.
Under the oversight of the Chief Diversity Officer, the Advocacy Department comprises Advocacy Liaisons who serve as stewards of advocacy priorities, initiatives, and projects for various community groups on campus. Advocacy Liaisons, nominated by student assemblies and campus offices, represent their communities in working with key administrators, staff, and faculty to create solutions that uplift the needs and interests of students and the broader university community. They work to ensure that the voices and needs of their respective communities are actively represented and addressed within USG and university-wide efforts
