Are you a student who receives need and/or merit based financial aid? Whether you’re directly involved with the USC Financial Aid Office or not, we hope to improve the overall USC Financial Aid Office experience via telephone.

The Financial Aid Call Back System Project is being led by Senator Velazquez in collaboration with the Transfer Student Assembly (TSA), the First Generation Student Assembly (FGSA), Chair of Affordability and Basic Needs Lydia Costantian, and Chair of Wellness Affairs Brianna Sanchez. This project aims to accomplish the following:

  • Implement a call back system structured within the USC Financial Aid Office to call you back when they are ready to take your call.
  • Increase efficiency and alleviate stress during the waiting period.
  • Provide extra support for first generation, undocumented or recent transfer students.
  • Give back time to students with busy schedules.

While this project is in its tentative stage, an alternative proposal consists of the following:

  • Implement an accurate, more transparent wait time estimate.
  • In the event proposal 1 can not come to fruition, proposal 2 would allow the caller to stay online after the reported time estimate.
  • For example, these time estimates would expand beyond the current feedback of “your estimated wait time is at more than 10 minutes” and include alternatives like “more than 30 minutes,” “more than 1 hour,” etc.

As your representative student government, we hope to reform a potentially stressful experience to become a more accessible and streamlined process. Please consider sharing your input via this form: USC Financial Aid Wait Times
