As a USC student, there are a multitude of different wellness resources at your disposal. These resources are intended to be used by YOU and to support YOU with whatever YOU may need. Below we have broadly listed some of the resources available to you. However, USG also offers an Official Wellness Resource Guide, that will directly link you to each specific resource you may need. 

Why it matters: These resources are intended to provide students with guidance in areas such as Mental and Physical health, Sexual Wellness, and Substance Use. They can help improve one’s overall well-being and enable students to thrive personally and academically. Lastly, they help provide education on important topics which allow students to make informed choices.  

USC Resources: The University of Southern California provides a vast array of wellness resources to help students succeed.  

Mental Health Resources: 

  • grief assistance (Grief Support Group)
  • basic needs (Trojan Basic Needs)
  • mindfulness (Mindfulness @ USC) 
  • intervention (Campus Support and Intervention)

Physical Health Resources: 

  • nutritional and medical services (Student Nutrition Services, Student Medical Services), 
  • food pantries (Trojan Food Pantry) 
  • emergency phones (Blue Light Emergency Phones
  • rest areas on campus for commuter students to relax and take a break such as RestSC.

Sexual Wellness and Substance Use Resources: 

  • 12 step recovery programs 
  • emergency contraception
  • STI testing through mySHR
  • gender empowerment resources (SAGE)
  • Relationship and Sexual Violence Resources (RSVP) to help students respond to gender and power based harm.  

Resources provided by LA County: On the state level, LA County provides broader and more direct wellness programs to assist students with their mental, physical and emotional well being. They foster a safe environment for learning, health, and well-rounded development 

Mental Health Resources: 

  • Youth Crisis Line 
  • LA’s LGBTQ+ Center
  • Counseling and therapy options through LA County’s mental health programs 

Physical Health Resources: 

  • Department of Public Health 
  • community clinics to assist with physical health and well-being (Saban Community Clinic). 

Sexual Wellness Resources:  

  • Planned Parenthood 
  • Center for Sexual Health and Wellness

Substance Abuse Resources:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous 
  • LA New Life Center for Rehabilitation, 
  • Narcotics Anonymous 

Nationwide Resources: The United States offers a wider range of wellness services to assist all students across the nation. 

Mental Health Resources: 

  • Anxiety and Depression Association (ADA), 
  • general therapy options (BetterHelp), 
  • suicide prevention resources  
  • LGBTQ+ resources (The Trevor Project). 

Physical Health Resources:

  • Center of Disease Control to address any questions regarding public health
  • HealthFinder.gov to provide general information to help address general mental health questions and assistance. 

Sexual Health Resources: 

  • Planned Parenthoods resources for women and families 
  • The American Sexual Health Association (ASHA) to help educate on sexual health,
  • STI prevention and treatment

Substance Use Resources: 

  • The National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) provides information about organizations that maintain a strong focus on alcohol and other drug abuse prevention. 
  • The 12 Steps Program helps manage different kinds of addiction to assist with rehabilitation. These nationwide resources are easily accessible and address all types of necessary support for students.
