Los Angeles, CA – At the March 3rd meeting of the USG Senate, the Senate passed resolution SR 145-21, heard updates from President Bautista, received a presentation on student transport initiatives, and announced the results of the 2026 USG Elections by Chief Justice Tung

The Senate passed SR 145-21: A Resolution to Request the Reinstatement of the Academic Achievement Award for the Fall 2025 class. Senator Muqtadir explained that it complements a previously passed resolution calling on the University to implement unit rollover. With the award having been terminated due to financial difficulties, he emphasized that reinstating the AAA would serve as an immediate and achievable step compared to the long-term objective of unit rollover.

SR 145-21 passed by a 12-0 vote.

President Bautista highlighted ongoing and concluding projects on the M+E platform as their presidential term comes to an end. Chair Done also introduced the USC Transportation Shuttle Program and outlined the financial impact. Through the program, the student body is projected to save roughly $20,000.

The Senate moved to the live announcement of the 2026 USG Election Results for the President, Vice President, and Senatorial candidates led by Chief Justice Tung. There was a 17.7% increase in voter turnout during this election cycle with a total number of votes equaling 4260 (3620 for the 2025 Election), as well as 21 Senate candidates compared to 13 the previous year.

The newly elected President and Vice President are Syrabi Nur Rahman and Diane Kim. The newly elected senators are Noa Foruzanfar, Kaylee Idrogo, Jasmine Liu, Sonali Gupta, Raquel N. Bell, Madison Troup, Leilani Akwue, Kevin Hoang, Zehran Muqtadir, Sudeepta Murthy, Piper Kujawa and Amy He.
